Two Ventura teenagers arrested in connection with social media video showing attack on homeless woman Thursday

VENTURA, Calif. – Two Ventura teenagers were arrested in connection with a social media video that showed several teens attacking a homeless woman in her sleeping bag on Thursday.

On Monday, June 17, detectives with the Ventura Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit became aware of a video posted on social media showing several juveniles on e-bikes brutally attacking a homeless woman in a sleeping bag and then fleeing the area, Ventura police said in a news release about the arrests.

The juvenile suspects were eventually identified with the help of the public, Ventura police said.

On Thursday, detectives executed search warrants at several locations and seized evidence, including e-bikes. In addition, they arrested two juveniles, a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old, both from Ventura, who were assigned to the Ventura Police Department.

The couple was booked into the Ventura County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and elder abuse, Ventura police said.

According to Ventura police, detectives still have several open investigations into previous attacks on a group of teenagers on e-bikes and are asking the public for more information.
