POLICE DEATH INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY IN ROSEBURG – KQEN News Radio

Roseburg Police are investigating a death.

Public information Sergeant Daniel Allen said RPD was called to an address in the 1100 block of Southeast Pine Street at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday to check on the welfare of 77-year-old Samuel Steven Smeth. Allen said Smeth was found dead in his residence. Next of kin have been notified.

Detectives from the RPD, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police assisted and will continue to investigate the matter with assistance from the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office. Allen said there is currently no known ongoing threat to the public.
