Fatal accident on federal highway leaves two dead and five injured


Two people, aged 80 and 66, were killed and five others injured in a traffic accident on the Patras-Pyrgos national road in the Peloponnese. According to police, the collision between two cars and a truck occurred under unclear circumstances.

After the incident, twelve firefighters with four vehicles were dispatched. They rescued an unconscious 80-year-old driver and a 66-year-old passenger from one of the cars. Both were taken by ambulance to Patras University Hospital, where doctors confirmed their deaths.

In addition, firefighters transported five injured people to the same hospital: three from the truck, one from the 80-year-old’s car and one from the second car.

The police are investigating the cause of the accident.
