Man charged after 6-hour armed confrontation with police in Evesham

A man is facing charges following an hours-long armed standoff in the Marlton area of ​​Evesham Township.

Evesham police were called to a home on Brookfield Avenue just before 2:30 a.m. Monday for a possible domestic violence incident. They reported that a person inside the home was armed with a gun.

Officials said that when police arrived at the home, 56-year-old John Fox began breaking the home’s windows and shooting at police.

According to police, an elderly lady was in the house at the time. She was able to be brought out of the house safely.

According to police, Fox then barricaded himself in his house. As a precautionary measure, a curfew was imposed on neighbors while officers surrounded the house.

Evesham Police said Fox turned himself in after six hours and was taken into custody, after which the curfew was lifted.

Fox was charged with illegal possession of a firearm, aggravated assault and property damage.

No one was injured in the incident.
