Atlanta strip club Onyx burglarized, around $250,000 stolen: police

An Atlanta strip club had its safes destroyed when two masked burglars entered the business through the ceiling and stole a quarter of a million dollars, police said.

Atlanta police officers responded to Onyx Gentlemen’s Club around 4:16 a.m. local time for a burglary, the department said in a news release.

According to the preliminary investigation, two burglars wearing ski masks and gloves entered through the ceiling of the strip club, police said. Once inside the club, the burglars crawled to the safes, according to the release.

The burglars “used power tools to break into the safes and stole approximately $250,000 in cash,” police said. During the crime, the security alarm never went off, according to the department.

In addition to breaking into the safes, the burglars placed the club’s vending machines face down, the department said. None of the vending machines were damaged or broken into, according to police.

The burglars fled the crime scene about two hours after entering the strip club, police said. An investigation into the burglary “remains active and ongoing,” the department said.
