West Main Street in Ringtown closed due to police operation

RINGTOWN – A heavy state police presence led to the closure of West Main Street in Ringtown on Sunday evening.

Police had been stationed in the 500 block of West Main Street since at least 7:30 p.m. and the street was closed from the Creekside Restaurant to Shenandoah Road.

As of 10:30 p.m., there were few confirmed details about the incident.

The patrol officers’ main focus appeared to be a house at 527 West Main, and the entire area around that house was cordoned off with crime scene tape.

A state police forensic unit was called to the scene.

Also that evening, a rescue helicopter was called to land in Ringtown.
