Man arrested after unsuccessful car theft attempt following robbery

GREENSBORO, NC — Greensboro police officials said a man was arrested after he allegedly robbed a store and then tried to steal someone’s car to get away.

On Thursday, police said two officers responded to a business robbery in the 2000 block of East Wendover Avenue. Officers said they quickly identified the suspect and attempted to arrest him, but he fled.

The suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Zakaria Majak, was followed, which police said led to his unsuccessful attempt to steal someone’s car.

Mayak was accused of the following:

• Robbery with firearms or other dangerous weapons
• Serious criminal with firearm

He must post $500,000 bail and appear in court on Monday.
