ABC-7 First Alert: Heatwave in border region continues

EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) – The ABC-7 Initial Warning remains in effect as scorching heat hits the border region.

Today’s high temperatures are expected to reach about 41.2 degrees in El Paso and about 40.4 degrees in Las Cruces.

A weak high-pressure system and dry westerly winds will keep the region hot and dry through mid-week, with plenty of sunshine and triple-digit temperatures through Wednesday.

Later in the week, a change in the weather will bring moist easterly winds, increasing the chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms through Wednesday and causing temperatures to drop below 38 degrees Celsius.
