One dead after agricultural aircraft collide in mid-air near Morton, NTSB said

LUBBOCK, Texas — One person was pronounced dead after two agricultural planes collided in midair east of Morton on Friday, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Another person was taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock with serious injuries.

The first call came in at 8:38 a.m. near Country Road 225 and Highway 114. DPS said the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the incident.

“Two air tractors were spraying a cotton field and collided in flight,” the Cochran County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release.
