Delaware State Police investigate homicide in Laurel – Delaware State Police

Delaware State Police are investigating a homicide that occurred early this morning in Laurel.

On June 3, 2024, at approximately 1:22 a.m., Laurel Police and Delaware State Police responded to a large crowd shooting at the Little Creek Apartments in the Laurel city limits. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 23-year-old man with gunshot wounds behind the 400-room building. The victim was taken to an area hospital where he died. His name is being withheld pending notification of his family. A second victim, a 26-year-old man, was later taken to an area hospital with a gunshot wound where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Due to the nature of the investigation, Laurel Police requested that the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit take over. According to a preliminary investigation, an unknown suspect or suspects fired multiple shots into the crowd, striking the two victims, several cars and buildings.

The Homicide Unit is still actively investigating this incident. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this case to contact Detective M. Csapo at (302) 741-2729.
