Laurel man arrested for drive-by shooting in Ellisville

ELLISVILLE, Mississippi (WHLT) – Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with a drive-by shooting outside an Ellisville supermarket.

The Laurel Leader Call reported that 31-year-old Devin Windham of Laurel has been charged with drive-by shooting.


The shooting occurred on Sunday, May 26, shortly before 8:45 p.m. at Keith’s Superstore in downtown Ellisville.

No one inside the supermarket was injured in the shooting. Authorities believe the suspects fired at someone outside in response to an altercation that had occurred elsewhere.

According to officials, Windham turned himself in on Wednesday, May 29. Windham appeared in court on Thursday, May 30, and his bail was set at $100,000. He is being held at the Jones County Adult Detention Center.
