Waupaca man arrested after multiple alleged crimes, police say

WAUPACA (NBC 26) – Waupaca police say a man is in custody after committing several alleged crimes in April.

Police said they were investigating a burglary report from April 24 in which a store was broken into and money was stolen.

Authorities subsequently investigated another incident on May 23 in which a man attempted to gain access to an ATM and caused damage.

Five days later, police investigated an incident in which a business was broken into and an undisclosed amount of cash was reported missing. Officers later found the suspect downtown. Police say he ran away, entered an unlocked apartment and fled through the front door.

Police then investigated a May 29 case in which a man stole numerous lottery tickets from a convenience store. The suspect was eventually seen fleeing the 1000 block of W. Fulton St.

Authorities said they eventually tracked down the suspect in a wooded area with the help of a drone and a sniffer dog. The man was arrested and confessed to all crimes after being questioned by police.

Police say they have filed charges of burglary, theft, resisting arrest, criminal damage, trespassing and disorderly conduct.

We are not naming the suspect because no official charges have been filed against him.
