Tamil Nadu: Three teenagers raped a girl who was friends on Instagram, sent video to her future groom and captured | Crime News

A 19-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by her Instagramgram boyfriend and his friends in Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu. The accused blackmailed the girl for not publishing the videos they recorded during the rape.

Ramanathapuram: A 20-year-old teenager invited a young woman he had befriended on Instagram to his home and raped her along with friends in Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu. The young men recorded the video of the rape and allegedly sent it to the victim’s future groom, but they have since been arrested.

All three defendants are around 20 years old

According to police, Chanduru (20) hails from a village near RS Mangalam in Ramanathapuram district and spends most of his time on social media, especially Instagram. He became friends with a 19-year-old girl on Instagram. Afterwards, they both shared their cell phone numbers and became closer. Chanduru later invited her to come to his house. Accordingly, the woman also went to his house. At that time, Chanduru’s friends Dhanush (20) and Shakti (20) along with them threatened and raped her. This was recorded on video without the woman’s knowledge.

In the meantime, the marriage arrangements for the girl were made. Since the defendants knew about this, they blackmailed the girl with videos to give them money. When she refused and their engagement was also over, they sent the obscene video they recorded to the girl’s future groom. The groom, who was not expecting this, was shocked when he saw the video and called off the marriage.

The accused booked under POCSO

The victim then complained to the Thiruvadan All Women Police Station. Based on the complaint, police registered a case against the three persons under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and arrested Canduru and Dhanush. The police are looking for their fugitive accomplice Sakthi.
