No injuries in KC-135 incident at McConnell AFB

WICHITA, Kansas (KSNW) — McConnell Air Force Base said there were no injuries after the front landing gear of a parked KC-135 retracted Wednesday.

A press release from McConnell said the incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The crew had already disembarked before the incident. Two maintenance technicians were on board the aircraft and three others were near the aircraft at the time of the incident, but no one was injured.


McConnell’s emergency responders responded to the aircraft:

“Today our Emergency Response Airmen put their training to the test and I am very proud of how they conducted themselves and completed their duties,” said Col. Cory Damon, 22and Air Refueling Squadron Commander: “Other flight operations at McConnell are not impacted by this incident.”

The incident is currently under investigation. KSN will provide further information as it becomes available.
