A Clinton County assistant district attorney remains on leave pending the criminal investigation, prosecutors confirmed Wednesday.

Daniel P. “Dan” Lennon, 29, was placed on leave on Monday, May 20.

Details of the investigation have not been released. The Saratoga County District Attorney’s Office, which has been appointed as special prosecutor, said there was no news as of Wednesday.

Lennon’s attorney, Kevin Luibrand of the Latham-based Luibrand Law Firm, told the Plattsburgh Press-Republican last week that he and his client were not aware of any allegations but would respond if any were made.

Lennon is running as a Democrat in the race for mayor in Plattsburgh. When he announced his candidacy in late February, he initially resigned from his position as Clinton County district attorney, but returned part-time in mid-March. Lennon said at the time that he was subject to several conditions, including no case assignments involving city residents, no political activity in the district attorney’s office and no use of county property for his campaign.

Lennon told the Press-Republican he plans to stay in the race. He is scheduled to face Clinton County Rep. Wendell Hughes in the Democratic primary next month.
