No life-threatening injuries after fireboat accident on Lake Mitchell

CHILTON COUNTY – A marine-related incident occurred at approximately 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, injuring three people. Phillip L. McCarn, 39, of Hoover was injured while attempting to crank a 2000 Maxum 19-foot bowrider. The boat suddenly burst into flames, injuring McCarn and two other passengers on board. All three people received medical attention and their injuries were treated as non-life-threatening. The incident occurred in the Cargile Creek area of ​​Lake Mitchell near Grace’s Marina in Chilton County. No further information is available as the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) Marine Patrol Division’s investigation is ongoing.
