WDAM 7 Morning Commute for Tuesday, May 28

PINE BELT, Mississippi (WDAM) – As holiday travel comes to an end, the Pine Belt’s major roads are returning to normal.

Drivers should continue to exercise caution, allow extra time for travel and remember that the “Click here or get a ticket” campaign is still running.

In Hattiesburg, the Mississippi Department of Transportation will begin the next section of a major repaving project along I-59 at about 8 a.m. Tuesday. It will stretch from the Bouie River Bridge to just north of the Evelyn Gandy Parkway (EX 69). Traffic on this half-mile section of I-59 is expected to be two-way (northbound and southbound on the same side) for six weeks.

During this time, no over-width loads are permitted on this section of the motorway.

Further south, the right lane of southbound I-59 at the US 11 (EX 60) overpass will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for a bridge inspection and repair.
