Color Me Mine Santa Monica faces backlash over improper waste disposal

A Ceramics studio Chain in Santa Monica became embroiled in controversy after a video surfaced online. In the footage, its employees are seen pouring what appears to be dirty water into a sewer. The store, Color Me Mine Santa Monica, is located on Main Street. The incident sparked a wave of outrage in the community and among environmental activists.

The video, first posted on Reddit and later went viral on Instagram, shows an employee pouring water or icing colored with green paint down a drain, despite the fact that there was a prominent “No Dumping” sign on the drain. In the background, another employee could be heard saying, “Who cares? It’s going to rain.” The footage was captured by a Santa Monica local.

In response to the outrage, Color Me Mine Santa Monica released a statement through social media platforms. In the statement, the studio apologized and took responsibility for the actions of its employees. They also clarified that management and ownership neither condoned nor supported such actions. They attributed it to an error in judgment by all employees involved. Although they acknowledged the incorrect disposal method, they pointed out that the substance disposed of was a non-toxic water-based glaze.
