Heavy thunderstorms are likely on Sunday

A flood warning is in effect for West Middle Tennessee and Southwest Kentucky from Sunday through Monday morning.

FIRST WEATHER WARNING DAY – SUNDAY:

Sunday is a First weather warning day. Showers and thunderstorms are possible on Sunday morning. Some of these could be heavy and cause damaging winds, but the greatest danger will be later in the day. The afternoon will be hot and humid with highs between 30 and 35 degrees and gusty winds.

Isolated strong to severe storms will develop northwest of Nashville Sunday afternoon and evening and then move southeastward. All kinds of severe hazards are possible – hail, damaging wind gusts, isolated tornadoes and even localized flooding.

The timing of the storms is uncertain, but multiple waves of storms are likely. A group of storms moving from southwest Kentucky to Middle Tennessee could form as early as the early evening. Additional waves of storms will move in from the same direction overnight. Severe weather is expected from 6 p.m. Sunday through the early hours of Monday morning.

DAY OF MEMORIAL:

Monday begins with showers and thunderstorms moving towards the southeast. It will remain dry in the afternoon. Maximum temperatures will rise to 30 to 40 degrees. Sudden thunderstorms are possible again in the late afternoon and evening.

NEXT WEEK:

Much nicer weather is expected on Tuesday. The forecast is for predominantly sunny skies and maximum temperatures around 30 degrees.

Dry weather is also expected from Wednesday to Friday, with maximum temperatures between 27 and 30 degrees Celsius.

Next Saturday looks good. A mix of sun and clouds is expected. A shower cannot be ruled out, especially late in the day. Maximum temperatures will be around 30 degrees.
