Man arrested after confessing to bank robberies in Apopka, police say

APOPKA, Florida. – Apopka police have arrested a man they say is responsible for armed robberies at two different banks in Orange County.

According to the Apopka Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division, detectives developed a lead on a possible vehicle used in the May 20 robbery of the Fifth Third Bank, 1725 S. Orange Blossom Trail.

Through their investigative efforts, investigators were able to identify the suspect as 45-year-old Taylor Cale Mizelle.

Police were able to obtain a search warrant for Mizelle’s home on Friday, and during an interview, police said Mizelle confessed to the May 20 robbery of the Fifth Third Bank as well as the May 8 robbery of the Fifth Third Bank at 1495 Rock Springs Road.

Following the May 8 robbery, police released a photo of the suspect showing him entering the bank, going behind the counter and taking money from an open drawer before running away.

Police also released a photo from the May 20 robbery, showing the suspect armed with a handgun and wearing a camouflage-style bucket hat, navy blue long-sleeved shirt, gray sweatpants and black and red gloves.

He was also seen riding away on his bicycle.

Both robberies occurred during lunchtime. No injuries were reported in either incident.

Mizelle was booked into the Orange County Jail and charged with grand larceny and robbery with a firearm.
