Fatal Accident – ​​Mercersburg – Tri-State Alert

MERCERSBURG – A pedestrian was killed when he was struck on Lemar Road in Peters Township shortly after 9 p.m. Thursday night.

The victim, identified as John Stottlemeyer, 77, of Mercersburg, was walking along the side of the road facing traffic when he was struck by a northbound vehicle and thrown 60 feet. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Anthony Smith, also of Mercersburg. Stottlemeyer was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident is being investigated.
