Three people are hospitalized after an accident near Rancho Murieta

Officials said the accident was reported on Scott Road.

RANCHO MURIETA, Calif. – Three people are in the hospital after a crash Wednesday evening near Rancho Murieta.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 8:30 p.m. along Scott Road, north of Latrobe Road.

A man was driving a Toyota Camry northbound on Scott Road. Two women were in the car. One woman was wearing a seatbelt in the front seat, the other was in the back seat without a seatbelt.

CHP said the driver was driving at an unsafe speed, lost control of the car, left the road and struck a tree.

The woman in the back seat suffered serious injuries and was flown to a hospital. The driver and the woman in the front seat suffered moderate injuries and were also taken to a hospital.

It is unclear whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
