One person was killed and another was seriously injured in a house fire in Montgomery early Tuesday morning.

Montgomery Deputy Fire Chief Stanley Cooper said the fire was reported around 5:16 a.m. in the 600 block of Bullock Street, just off Rosa Parks Avenue.

Cooper said firefighters found heavy smoke coming from the one-story home. He says a passerby told them there could be two people inside.

Rescuers found the two people. Cooper said one of the two was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

The cause of fire is not discovered yet.
