Day 298 of the Israel-Hamas war: What is happening in Israel, Gaza and Lebanon?

The Civilian Committee investigating the events leading up to October 7 heard testimony on Tuesday, including from IDF reserve officers.

The panel leading the investigation is made up of legal and security experts and was announced earlier this month by the families of those killed on October 7, representatives of the attacked kibbutzim and civil society groups.

One of the committee’s main goals is to initiate the establishment of a government investigation, but this has been rejected by Israel’s political leadership.

The Hamas terrorists “knew that the Israeli forces could only handle five points at most in parallel,” Democratic Party leader Major General (ret.) Yair Golan told the committee on Tuesday.
