Current and former USU athletes request investigation into fired executives

LOGAN, Utah – Several current student-athletes as well as former players at Utah State University have signed a petition calling for an independent investigation into recent firings of athletic department leaders.

The petition, sent Monday to the school’s governing board and the Utah Board of Higher Education, expresses athletes’ concerns about the firing of Assistant Athletic Director for External Affairs Jerry Bovee and Assistant Athletic Director for Internal Affairs Amy Crosbie.

Both Bovee and Crosbie were dismissed from their positions in recent weeks.

Bovee, together with head coach Blake Anderson and Director of Player Development and Community Austin Albrecht were relieved of their positions after officials accused them of violating school policies regarding student misconduct.

The school has not revealed why Crosbiea former Utah State volleyball player, was fired.

“Although we are not currently aware of the facts and circumstances that led to their dismissal, we believe that any information that comes to light could damage the credibility and character of Mr. Bovee and Ms. Crosbie,” the letter said.

At the end of the letter, the petition signatories demand that a third party intervene to investigate the firings of Bovee and Crosbie.

“Her questionable dismissal also raises serious concerns about the entire process the university initiated that led to the dismissal of several individuals.”
