MassDOT employee hit and killed at work in Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. (WWLP) – A Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) employee was killed on the job Saturday evening.

According to Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz, 57-year-old David Sousa of Stoughton was clearing debris on Route 24 near Exit 28B when he was struck by a passing car around 9:30 p.m.


Police said the driver who struck him remained at the scene. Police have not yet released the name of the driver or whether charges will be filed.

Sousa was a former board member in Stoughton.
