Rescue workers at the scene of a light aircraft incident in North Yorkshire

Rescue workers are on site at the scene of a small aircraft accident in North Yorkshire.

The incident occurred in a “rural area” near Selby, with emergency services responding at around 9:50am this morning (Sunday).

Exact details have not yet been confirmed. In a statement on its website, North Yorkshire Police said: “We are currently dealing with an incident involving a small aircraft in a rural area near Selby, which was reported at around 9.50am today.”

“We remain on site along with other emergency services and further updates will follow.”

Yorkshire Ambulance Service said in a statement: “We received an emergency call at 9.50am on Sunday morning reporting an incident involving a light aircraft at Thorganby, near York.

“A number of our emergency personnel responded to the incident.”
