Hezbollah on high alert for Israeli retaliation after latest attack – Israel News

Sources within Hezbollah told a German news agency on Sunday that the organization has been on high alert for several months, saying: “We are constantly on alert and the organization is now expecting a serious attack.”

Ali Fayad, a Hezbollah member of the Lebanese parliament, said the organization was preparing for all eventualities, including the possibility of a ground conflict. Speaking in the southern Lebanese town of Markaba, Fayad said: “The Lebanese resistance has the absolute right to defend itself. This allows it to use all the means and capabilities at its disposal to protect itself, its community, its nation and its homeland.”

In addition, Wiam Wahhab, a Druze-Lebanese politician considered close to Hezbollah, called for an end to the war and warned against engaging in an endeavor that could endanger Lebanon’s future. In a statement released this morning, he added: “It is time to stop the bloodshed. The region is on a volcano and Lebanon will pay the price.” At the same time, the Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a warning: “We warn Israel against any new adventure against Lebanon under the pretext of the Majdal Shams incident. Israel bears the main responsibility for any unexpected reactions to its foolish behavior.”

The Lebanese foreign minister told Reuters that the United States had called on the Lebanese government to stop Hezbollah.

Israeli forces prepare for tensions with Hezbollah

Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi visited the football field in Majdal Shams, the scene of yesterday’s horrific drone attack, and met with the head of the Druze community, representatives of the local council, the commander of the Northern Command, Major General Ori Gordin, and the commander of the 210th Division, Brigadier General Yair Palai.

Halevi noted: “We know exactly where today’s rocket was fired from. We examined the remains of the rocket on the wall of the football field. We can confirm that it was a Falaq rocket with a 53-kilogram warhead. This is a Hezbollah rocket.”

“Anyone who fires such a rocket into a populated area has the aim of killing civilians and children. We strongly support the Druze community, which, along with all other Israeli citizens, is our courageous and full partner in the fight for our homeland. We strongly support the residents of Majdal Shams, embrace the grieving families and wish all those injured a speedy and full recovery.”
