Stabbed man escapes kidnapping in Hyannis, police say – NBC Boston

A man was held against his will, strangled with a belt and stabbed to death in a Cape Cod home before fleeing early Thursday morning, police said.

The two suspected kidnappers were arrested soon afterward – one of them, who had been wanted for another incident on the Cape, after a short foot chase, according to Barnstable police.

The alleged victim, who is presumed to survive, made it to a neighboring home on Quaker Road in Hyannis, where a neighbor called 911 around 7 a.m., police said. The man said he was being held by two people he knew: Eric Randall, a 23-year-old from Hyannis, and Richard Villa, a 34-year-old from Cotuit.

The couple held the man captive in the house at gunpoint, strangled him with a belt, stabbed him with a knife and threatened to kill him, police reported.

Villa was taken into custody soon after, but Randall fled from officers on foot late Thursday afternoon when he was tracked down, according to police.

The two men face a number of charges, including kidnapping. Randall was also wanted for allegedly attacking someone with a weapon in Barnstable on Wednesday, according to police.

During the investigation, a ghost weapon and a ghost knife were found, police said.

It was not immediately clear whether Villa and Randall had lawyers who could comment on the allegations. Both were remanded in custody and no bail was ordered.
