Celine Dion’s song in Paris compared to her performance at the Atlanta Olympics

PARIS, France — Celine Dion rocked the crowd Friday night at the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with her powerful rendition of “Hymn to Love.”

Dion’s performance immediately made comparisons for his compelling rendition of “The Power of the Dream” at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics at Centennial Olympic Stadium, which later became the home of the Atlanta Braves for 20 years at Turner Field.

Dion’s performance in Paris on Friday was a rendition of French singer Edith Piaf from a stage at the foot of the Eiffel Tower.

The official Olympic Games X account posted his performance in Atlanta 28 years ago after his masterclass in Paris.

The Canadian singer had been tipped to perform at the Olympic opening ceremony. Her emotional performance took place at the top of the Eiffel Tower, after the Olympic flame had lit the cauldron as it ascended.
