Albany police ask for public help in locating a suspect in aggravated assault case

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) – The Albany Police Department (APD) Criminal Investigations Bureau is asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect in an aggravated assault case.

Police said officers were called to the 2100 block of W. Gordon Avenue in early July for a report of an aggravated assault in which the victim was attacked by a man while walking to the mailbox in the complex. The victim is in his early 60s.

According to a statement from APD, the suspect in this case beat and strangled the victim, ripped her underwear and dragged her across the floor.

According to police, the victim did not know the suspect but was able to save a picture of the alleged attacker from before the incident.
