1 person dead, 1 in border police custody after search in desert

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — One person died and another was arrested by Border Patrol during a multi-agency search of the desert area near Sunland Park on Saturday afternoon, July 20, according to the Sunland Park Fire Department.

The Sunland Park Fire Department assisted the Border Patrol and Dona Ana Fire Department in searching for two people in the desert area off Bi-National Avenue who had called 911.


Both were found by the Dona Ana fire department and given medical treatment.

One person died and the other was arrested by border patrol, the Sunland Park Fire Department said.

The call came around 1:20 p.m.
