Boy’s mother charged with domestic violence in Amber Alert

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A mother was arrested Friday in connection with an Amber Alert for her 4-year-old son.

Sierra Brown, 24, was charged with domestic violence and assault. Her friend, 23-year-old Taysen Hixon, was also arrested and charged with aggravated menacing.

Shortly before 5 a.m., Brown’s son, Matthew Brown-Giamarco, was reported missing by his father from the area of ​​Wedgewood Drive and Eakin Road in southwest Columbus.

Columbus Police Sergeant James Fuqua said there was a domestic dispute between Brown and the father before the missing child was reported.

Franklin County Municipal Court records show Brown struck the father multiple times in the face and body shortly before 3:50 a.m. Court records did not provide details about what led to the alleged attack.

According to court documents, Hixon allegedly pointed a gun at the father and another person in the room and said, “I’m going to shoot you and him because he’s a witness.”

An Amber Alert was issued for Matthew around 10 a.m. Fuqua said that due to previous alleged incidents at the residence, police consider the situation to be “a very high-risk situation.”

“Unfortunately, there were some alleged incidents of domestic violence between the mother and the son that were not reported to us, but which the child’s father reported to us and which occurred a few days before today,” he said.

Fuqua said the boy was found unharmed in the 600 block of Dexter Avenue shortly after 11 a.m. Additionally, Brown contacted detectives and she and Hixon turned themselves in.
