2 dead in accident in Signal Hill – press telegram

The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner on Tuesday identified an 88-year-old man as one of two people killed in a car crash in Signal Hill.

The collision between the two cars occurred around 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the 2800 block of Cherry Avenue, said Corporal G. Friend of the Signal Hill police.

The driver and passenger of one vehicle died at the scene of the accident, Friend said.

The coroner identified one of the occupants as Sheldon Turchin. It remained unclear whether he was the driver or passenger.

The identity of a woman in her 70s who also died has not been publicly released.

The driver of the other vehicle was injured but survived.
