Pleasant

Police spokesman Sgt. Darrell McMann said in a news release that 45-year-old Michael Pleasant was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to resell and possession of drug paraphernalia.

McMann said on the day of the arrest, an APD officer conducted a traffic stop on North Main Street at around 11:05 p.m. for an improper turn.

McMann said that during the conversation between the officer and the driver, Staples, the driver requested a sniffer dog unit to the scene because he had been denied consent to search the vehicle.

“The sniffer dog indicated the presence of narcotics and officers discovered over 10 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale, plastic bags and other items commonly used to ingest narcotics,” McMann said.

Pleasant was then taken to the Escambia County Detention Center in Brewton.
