Inspector of BSF training centre in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, arrested for raping 7-year-old girl

Hoshiarpur, July 14: An inspector posted at the Border Security Force (BSF) Subsidiary Training Centre was arrested for raping a seven-year-old girl, police said on Sunday.

The child’s mother allegedly encountered the officer on the training center’s premises during the rape, it was said.

According to police, Inspector Ghulam Mutanja, who is stationed in the administrative building of the training center in Kharkan, raped the minor on June 26 at around 9 p.m.

According to police, the victim’s mother went looking for the girl when she did not return home late that evening.

When she heard the child’s screams from a nearby parking lot, she rushed there to allegedly catch the inspector in the act of raping her daughter, police said.

It was said that Mutanja fled as soon as he saw his mother.

According to the police report, the victim told his mother that the police officer allegedly approached her while she was playing and asked her under some pretext to come with him. When she refused, he allegedly took her near the parked vehicles, it was reported.

Amarnath, deputy superintendent of police (city), Hoshiarpur, said an investigation was underway and the accused would be arrested soon.
