New beer alert: The Summer IPA Edition

It’s July and American craft brewers are responding to the warming temperatures with an interesting selection of IPAs that you should definitely have on hand.

Lawson’s little sip becomes big (Waitsfield, VT) – Lawson’s Finest Liquids has a tasty year-round beer that the brewery calls a “little cousin of the Sip of Sunshine IPA.” Not only is it available year-round in 12-packs of 12-ounce cans, but it’s now offered in massive 5.5-gallon cans. Less aggressive than its 8 percent cousin, Imperial IPA. Lawson’s Little Sip IPA is an accessible and impressively balanced India Pale Ale with 6.2% alcohol content, notes of grapefruit and pineapple, a tropical fruity character and bright floral aromas.

“19.2 bottles is enough to go a long way in a small sip,” said Sean Lawson, founder and brewer of Lawson’s Finest Liquids. “You can easily take it with you and go hiking or grab a 12-pack on the way to a meeting with friends. We’re excited to introduce two new, super convenient ways to enjoy one of your favorite beers this summer.”

Time to hit the streets (Hershey, PA) – Tröegs Independent Brewing has a new addition to its year-round offering inspired by “Graffiti Highway,” an abandoned stretch of road that became a Pennsylvania landmark. Just a short drive from the brewery, this abandoned stretch of road was once a hotspot for Pennsylvania’s counterculture, a gathering place for like-minded artists who contributed to a colorful mosaic in an otherwise fading landscape.

A tribute to this landmark that was buried forever in 2020, Tröegs Graffiti Highway Double IPA is a 9.5% ABV India Pale Ale with a mosaic of intense, fruity flavours giving way to a gentle bitterness. And like many of Tröegs’ beers, Graffiti Highway began as a series of test batches in the brewery’s research and development brewhouse, known as the Scratch Lab.

“The Scratch Lab is a three-barrel system that allows us to test hop combinations, times and temperatures side by side,” says Tröegs Brewing Manager Tim Mayhew. “We can taste the nuances of these experiments and find new inspiration.”
