Shreveport inmate charged with attacking prison guards during transport to Caddo Correctional Center

SHREVEPORT, Louisiana (KSLA) – An inmate at Caddo Correctional Center has been charged with allegedly assaulting a prison guard.

Shreveport police say it happened on Saturday, July 6, when staff tried to bring 33-year-old Sammy Powell into the CCC. Police say he became “irate” and refused to cooperate with staff. Police say Powell then made multiple threats against staff and attacked one of the prison guards before he was subdued.

Powell is now accused of assaulting a police officer, threatening a public official and resisting an officer. The prison guard who was attacked was not injured, according to police.
