Hit and run in Mumbai: A wanted notice has been issued for Mihir.

Mumbai (Maharashtra):

Worli police said on Monday that Rajesh Shah, the father of Mihir Shah, an accused in the hit-and-run case in which a woman died, called the 24-year-old several times after the accident.

Police also said that before the incident, Mihir was partying with his friends at a pub in Juhu and that statements were recorded from three of his friends who were there with him before the incident.

The Mumbai Police have formed 14 teams to arrest Mihir Shah, who has been missing since his alleged car hit a scooter on Dr Annie Besant Road in Worli. A wanted notice has been issued for Mihir, who is on the run.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed concern over the “increase in hit-and-run incidents in Maharashtra.”

He said the powerful and influential are trying to abuse their status to manipulate the system and that his government will not tolerate such abuse of power.

said today that the guilty would not be spared.

He said the culprits would not be spared and directed the police to take action.

“No one, whether rich, influential or scion of bureaucrats or ministers belonging to any party, will enjoy immunity as long as I am the Chief Minister of the state. I have zero tolerance for injustice,” Shinde said in a post on X.

On July 7, Mihir’s father Rajesh Shah and another person, Raj Rishi Rajendra Singh Vidawat, were arrested for not cooperating with the police.

The 45-year-old woman killed in the July 7 incident was identified as Kaveri Nakhwa, a resident of Worli Koliwada.

She was riding on the pillion seat of her husband’s scooter, who is currently being treated in hospital for injuries sustained in the incident, police said.

“A BMW ran over two cyclists. The woman died in the accident and the other person was injured. The incident took place at 5.30 am when the cyclist couple was passing in front of Atria Mall in Worli,” said a statement from the Mumbai Police giving details of the incident.

Police said the driver “fled the scene of the accident in his car” after the incident.

“The accident occurred when the couple from the fishing community were returning home after buying fish. The husband managed to jump from the speeding vehicle. The woman, who was injured in the accident, died during treatment,” police said.

Police also said that the luxury car belonged to the leader of a political party based in Palghar, Maharashtra.

The Worli incident came less than two months after the Pune case in which a Porsche, allegedly driven by a 17-year-old boy who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, collided with a motorcycle in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area in the early hours of May 19, resulting in the death of two software developers.
