Mauricio Sulaimn exclusively at MARCA: “Ryan Garca has attacked every religion and every race”

In an exclusive interview for BRAND USAthe President of the World Boxing Council (WBC),Mauricio Sulaimnspoke about the decision to exclude Mexican-American boxer Ryan Garca from the organization and expressed concern about the boxer’s health, both physically and mentally.

Sulaimn mentioned that the reason for Garca’s suspension, although he had previously said that the boxer would not be punished, was that he crossed the border He recently published a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, where he went on a rant insulting several ethnic groups in a racist manner.

The chairman of the WBC said “Today Ryan has returned with an outburst of anger on social media, with accusations and attacks against every religion and every race. This follows a sustained and obvious life that he leads, a highly dangerous one in which he has been seen consuming alcohol and most likely other substances… He clearly needs immediate help for his mental health and help for a full overall assessment of his health and his life, which is in serious danger.”

Will Ryan Garca be able to return to fight in the WBC?

Despite Sulaiman’s decision to suspend Garca, the WBC chief opened the door for the super featherweight and lightweight boxer to one day return and again participate in a fight sanctioned by the organization, but set conditions.

Sulaimn mentioned that

would first have to agree to accept help and rehabilitate himself before fighting with the WBC again. “(Ryan) needs to recover. Doing everything necessary for his physical, mental and social rehabilitation and continuing to offer help is simply a way of saying ‘that’s it’, he can no longer stay on the council with this behavior.”

Ryan Garca was the interim WBC lightweight champion in 2021 after beating Luke Campbell for the title, which was vacant, in January of that year. His fight against Devin Haney was for the WBC super lightweight title, however, since he did not weigh in before the fight, he was ineligible to become champion.
