Philadelphia rape and shooting suspect arrested in Kansas City, Missouri – NBC10 Philadelphia

A man accused of raping a woman and shooting her and her boyfriend in Philadelphia last month has been arrested by U.S. Marshals in Missouri.

Damonte Lewis, 32, was arrested in Kansas City, U.S. Marshals announced Wednesday.

Lewis was wanted in connection with a rape and shooting in Philadelphia.

A 40-year-old man was shot in the neck at a North Peach Street home at 11:27 p.m. on June 24, while his 39-year-old girlfriend was shot in the shoulder, investigators said. The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition, while the woman was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Police found a firearm at the scene and said the motive for the shooting was “possibly domestic in nature.”

Investigators identified Lewis as the suspect in the double shooting. U.S. Marshals said Lewis also raped the 39-year-old woman.

Philadelphia police have not yet filed any official charges against Lewis.
