Rick Ross was attacked after playing Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss track

Rozay had a tough weekend – but he doesn’t let it show.

Footage shared on social media shows 48-year-old Rick Ross being attacked on Sunday night following his performance at the Ignite Music Festival in Vancouver.

Video of the incident shows Ross leaving the stage as he and his crew get into an argument with several others, which quickly escalates into a full-on brawl when one man throws the first punch, hitting Ross in the face. Multiple videos of the incident, taken from different angles, show the fight lasted several minutes.

TMZ reports that the argument was sparked by a negative reaction to Ross’ choice of music: The rapper ended his performance by playing Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss track “Not Like Us,” which was created in the wake of their ongoing rap feud.

Representatives of Ross did not immediately respond to Weekly Entertainment’s Request for comment.

Ross has not yet commented on the confrontation on social media, but has subsequently uploaded several Instagram story updates in which he appears unfazed by the attack.

In one video, the rapper can be seen laughing heartily while sipping champagne, and in a photo from Monday, he stands in front of a jet. “Vancouver, it was fun, see you next time,” he captioned the post.

However, the incident sparked a calm response from Drake, who liked a video of the fight shared on Instagram.

Ross has his own history with the Toronto native, previously insulting the rapper on “Push Ups.” The song included the lines, “I might take your newest girl and handcuff her like Ricky / I can’t believe he meddling, this n—- is turning 50 / Every song that made the charts, he got it from Drizzy.” Ross countered with his song “Champagne Moments,” in which he hints that Drake has had a nose job.

While those involved remain silent, 50 Cent responded directly to the incident, posting footage of Ross’ escape from the brawl on Instagram.

“LMAO THE GREAT ESCAPE! MEEKA CALL THE CHASERS THEY’RE CHASED ME,” he captioned the video. 50 Cent made further taunts in a video later uploaded to social media, sarcastically expressing concern for Ross.

“Hey guys. I just witnessed a very unfortunate situation in Canada and I want to say to everyone that I hope this brother came home safe,” he said in the video. “I hope that he now has a different perspective and a better sense of what to do and what not to do when you’re out in the world.”

He held up his fists and continued, “The part where the young guy did that – he made that little move and stuff and got knocked out – that doesn’t reflect him. That reflects his camp.”

The ongoing feud between Drake and Lamar has led to several other rappers speaking out, either supporting one side or condemning the feud entirely. Last month, Ice Cube admitted he supports the conflict – as long as it remains non-violent.

“I’m for the fight. I’m always for rap battles. That’s the essence of the game,” he told Shaquille O’Neal on The big podcast with Shaq. “As long as it doesn’t get physical, because that’s not rap. If it gets physical, that’s just street crime.”
