Delivery driver attacked by dog in Liberty Township, Ohio, near Youngstown, Ohio

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) – A food delivery driver said he was attacked by a dog while delivering food in Liberty Township. People familiar with the dog said it is not the first time a delivery driver has been bitten.

On Monday, officers were called to the 1000 block of Park Circle around 12:33 a.m. for a report of an unknown problem. According to the police report, there was a language barrier with the caller and they could only understand that someone needed an ambulance.

When officers arrived, a man exited his vehicle, limped over to officers, and pointed to his right leg. His pants were torn and there was a bleeding bite mark on the underside of his calf.

The man said he was trying to deliver food to a house on Park Circle, but when the door was opened to get the food, a dog ran out and bit him.

Officers spoke with one of the dog’s residents and he confirmed that the delivery driver had been bitten. They also said that the dog had bitten a UPS driver “some time ago” but it was never reported, the police report states.

Residents informed officers that there was a sign on the living room window that read “Beware of the dog,” the report said.

Officials said they would file a report and the Trumbull County dog catcher had been contacted.

The delivery driver declined medical treatment from the Liberty Township Fire Department and stated he wanted to drive himself to the hospital.
