Adam Duvall shows signs of life after long off-season

While the Atlanta Braves suffered a tough 4-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday, outfielder Adam Duvall had another good day at the plate.

Duvall followed his big day saturday going 1 for 3 with a walk and a run scored. With that, he now has a hit in three straight games and is 3 for 11 (.272) during that span with a .333 on-base percentage (OBP).

Perhaps this is a sign that Duvall is beginning to emerge from his long period of stagnation.

A long, well-deserved break

Let’s be realistic. Few players needed that starting game and a big weekend more than Duvall on Saturday.

The 35-year-old outfielder has seen his stats plummet since late April.

As of April 30, Duvall was batting .238/.327/.429/.755 with two home runs. That’s still down a bit from 2023, but it’s about where you’d expect Duvall’s production to be.

Since then, things have been dire. June was Duvall’s most successful month so far, with a .117/.181/.156/.337 batting average and just one home run before the series against the Pirates.

Ultimately, having a big moment meant a lot to the struggling Braves outfielder.

“It was nice to finally be able to help the team,” Duval said. said after the departure.

Duvall later added how lucky he felt to have had support from his teammates during this difficult time.

“They know how much weight that blow put on my back,” he said. said.

Look, it could totally be that he just had a good streak. But this is his best three-game stretch in some time, and no one can take that away from him.

If this is a sign that Duvall is starting to get going again, then he’s gearing up for a strong run heading into the All-Star Break.
