Suspected drunk driver arrested for speeding over 105 mph on Houston toll road | Texas

Houston, Texas – A suspected drunk driver was arrested after being caught speeding more than 105 mph on the S. Sam Houston Tollway E., authorities said.

On June 30, 2024, toll road deputies from Constable Jerry Garcia’s office observed a vehicle traveling 105 mph in a 65 mph zone, according to a department news release. Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 9200 block of S. Sam Houston E Turnpike.

During the arrest, the driver showed several signs of intoxication, which led officers to conduct an investigation for drunk driving. Standardized field sobriety tests confirmed the driver was intoxicated, police said.

The driver, identified as Roderick D. Hunter, 59, was arrested and booked into the Harris County Joint Treatment Center on a charge of driving while intoxicated.
