Maharashtra teacher arrested for NEET cheating Link suspended

KOLHAPUR: Sanjay Jadhav, the primary school teacher arrested in connection with the NEET-UG paper scam, has been suspended and his transfer order cancelled, it was reported.

Jadhav, who was posted at Takali village in Solapur district of Maharashtra, had sought a transfer to Akkalkot citing his wife’s mental health issues. He had also submitted a medical certificate regarding her condition. Now the authenticity of this certificate is also being verified.

Jadhav is an accused in the NEET-UG paper leak case and has been in the custody of the Maharashtra ATS since June 24. Jadhav and another arrested accused, Jaleel Khan Pathan – a headmaster of a Zilla Parishad (ZP) school in Latur – have been accused of acting as agents in the paper leak scam. Their exact roles are still being ascertained. Investigations revealed that Jadhav had sought a transfer to Akkalkot, where he met the parents of the students and assured them that their children were scoring well in NEET.

After his name surfaced in connection with the alleged scam, a team from the Solapur Zilla Parishad Education Department visited Takali and spoke to the teachers, parents and residents about him.

Kadar Shaikh, education officer of ZP, told TOI, “Jadhav’s name was in the list of 600 teachers who were granted transfer. However, we have not given the order yet. When his name cropped up in connection with the NEET issue, he was suspended.”
