Suspect dead after shooting in Las Vegas – five dead, 13-year-old child seriously injured

A man who shot and killed five people in North Las Vegas, Nevada, on Monday, June 24, committed suicide on Tuesday, June 25, the Associated Press, ABC KTNV 13 and Fox 5 reported.

Eric Adams, 47, is believed to be the suspected gunman in a mass shooting on Monday night. North Las Vegas police said he committed suicide on Tuesday morning.

Authorities were searching for Adams after he shot five people and seriously injured a 13-year-old girl at an apartment complex near Commerce Street and Lone Mountain Road.

Police discovered the five victims, including four women – one in her early 40s, one in her late 50s and two in their mid-20s – and a man in his early 20s. The 13-year-old girl was taken to University Hospital and remains in critical condition.

The two women, in their 40s and 50s, were discovered first. During the investigation, officers were informed by the department that a teenager had been taken to the hospital and there might be more victims. Officers then found the bodies of the younger women and the young man.

After the shooting, Adams fled the scene. Authorities conducted an overnight manhunt for Adams, whom authorities described as “armed and dangerous,” according to the Associated Press.

He was not discovered until around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning, when police found him in a store in the 1500 block of Lake Mead Boulevard, near MLK Boulevard, according to ABC 13. He then fled into the backyard of a nearby residence.

Authorities then ordered him to drop his weapon, but he refused, turned the gun on himself and committed suicide. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the Associated Press, authorities described Adams’ shooting as an “isolated incident.”
