One person in hospital after shooting in Fairfield

One person was injured in a shooting in Fairfield late Sunday.

According to Sergeant Evan Kaesmann of the Fairfield Police Department, the victim suffered injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening in a shooting reported shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Fiske Street between Johnson Drive and Commerce Drive.

Officers were dispatched to the area following a report of shots fired and spoke with several residents who said they were in their homes when they heard several “pops” that sounded like gunshots, Kaesmann said. The shots were followed by two vehicles leaving the area in opposite directions on Fiske Street.

Officers on site found several cartridge cases and identified the crime scene.

Shortly afterward, police learned that a man had arrived at Bridgeport Hospital in a private vehicle seeking treatment for a gunshot wound, Kaesmann said. Officers and detectives arrived at the hospital and confirmed that the victim had been injured in the Fiske Street shooting.

Police are still investigating and ask anyone with information to contact Fairfield Police at 203-254-4800.
