According to the Ministry of Health and Public Protection and the Ministry of Interior, all public transport in the United Arab Emirates, including the Dubai Metro, will be shut down from 8 p.m. on March 26 to 6 a.m. on March 29.

The blockade is part of a national sterilization program that includes all utilities, public transport and the subway, a statement said. During this period, traffic will be restricted across the country and public transport and the subway will be suspended.

The Ministries of Health and the Interior urged the population to stay at home throughout the sterilization period and to leave the house only to buy food and medicine or to work in vital sectors such as energy, communications, health, education, security and police, military, postal services, shipping, pharmaceuticals, water and food sectors, civil aviation, airports, finance and banking, state media and the service sector, which includes gas stations and construction projects.

The ministries announced that grocery stores, cooperatives, grocery stores, supermarkets and pharmacies are allowed to continue operating.
