3 moves that could define the Buffalo Bills’ 2024 offseason

As media and fans, the proverbial dead horse has been beaten… repeatedly. We know all the changes to the roster. We know all about the many long-time Bills who have been released, Mitch Morse, Tre’Davious White and Jordan Poyer. We are more than aware of the Stefon Diggs trade and the loss of Gabe Davis in free agency. The first day of the NFL Draft was also interesting, with Bills Mafia expecting a shiny new receiver, only to get two trades that resulted in no picks that first night.

All of these moves have left many wondering, is the Bills’ Super Bowl window closed? I don’t believe so, but it’s possible that Buffalo regrets some decisions made during the offseason. And if they end up missing more than one, the 2024 season could be a very long one at One Bills Drive. But hey, these were steps that needed to be taken, either due to salary cap constraints or off-the-field actions that caused on-field distractions, they were necessary and for the best of long-term health of the team. But let’s look at some of these decisions that could potentially haunt the Bills in 2024 and that they might regret.

Bills trade Stefon Diggs to Houston Texans for second-round pick

It shouldn’t surprise anyone to see the Stefon Diggs trade on this list. What makes this interesting is that we don’t know what to expect from Diggs in 2024. His production dipped in the second half of the season and into the playoffs. What we don’t know is why this happened. Some would argue that defenses targeted him in coverage, using double teams and bracket coverage to stop him. But hasn’t that been the case the last few seasons, and yet he still produced and the majority of other passers didn’t.

If Diggs has over 100 receptions and over 1,000 more yards in Houston, fans will look at Beane and question the decision, and even more so, if Josh Allen and the Bills’ passing game struggles. Although three receivers had career years with Allen (John Brown, Cole Beasley and Diggs), the question this offseason has been whether Allen’s meteoric rise was due to Diggs’ arrival in Buffalo.
